Oswego, NY Staging to Cross Lake Ontario - Day 277

June 18, 2016
Day 277

We left after the early risers since we had less than 30 miles to go, but also had to negotiate eight locks.after we had fueled up and pumped out.  We were traveling with another boat from the marina, Trawler Life who we had met at Waterford and had run into periodically since.   We went through the lock near the marina, which was our last lock on the Erie Canal, and soon we turned off of the Erie Canal and into the Oswego Canal.

After 28 miles and 7 locks on the Oswego Canal, we arrived at "Alex's on the Water" at the Best Western Hotel, just a mile or so short of Lake Ontario.  All of the PDQs staged up here for the 30-mile jump across Lake Ontario.  The weather for the morning looked very good for the crossing, with winds predicted to be under 10 knots from the southwest, which meant that whatever light seas were generated by the wind would be on our stern, the best direction for travel.

The sponsor of the flotilla, Rhumbline Yacht Sales, threw a nice cocktail party for the group at the restaurant, we had a nice meal there as well.
