Grafton Harbor, Grafton, IL - Day 351-356

August 30, 2016, to September 3, 2016
Day 351-356

We hung out on the boat most of the first day here waiting for the technician to work on our air conditioner, but since they were coming by boat from across the river in Missouri, and thunderstorms had broken out in the afternoon, they canceled.  They came the next morning and quickly found the easy cause of the problem, there was a switch I had set wrong.  Dumb.  While he was aboard I had him check over the other AC which was freezing up if it ran very long.  It was low on Freon so he added some and we were good to go.

We decided to stay in Grafton until Sunday morning so we could go to Mass at the nearby Catholic church since our next stop did not have a church near the marina.  We also considered taking advantage of one the several nearby Saturday and Sunday breakfast buffets featuring $5.00 draft beers!

We took in a few of the sights around the nearby town of Grafton, which call itself "The Key West to the Mid-West".

Wednesday evening the marina manager came and knocked on the hull of our boat.  He told us that a TV station in St. Louis, MO had found out we were in town and they wanted to send a film crew to interview us if it was OK.  We told him it was OK.  The next day Patrick Clark showed up to film an interview so he could put it on the news and let everyone know we were there and what we were doing.  Sharon gave him a glass of the ever-present wine, and then he interviewed us.  That evening the interview aired on two St. Louis, MO television stations.

Here is the news report that aired on Fox 2 and KPLR 11 in St. Louis.

As planned we went to Saturday evening Mass at the nearby Catholic church, then we went to the BBQ joint/mototcycle bar for dinner afterward.
