Panama City, FL - Day 376-379

September 24-26, 2016
Day 376-379

When Dave and Terri joined us on the boat for a few days they wanted to do some travel since when they had been aboard before we pretty much stayed in the same place.  They drove their car down from New Bern, NC and left it at the Panama City Marina, then took a Greyhound bus to Mobile where we were docked.  Using the marina courtesy car I picked them up at the Greyhound station and they joined us at the Dog River Marina.  They were then able to boat with us to Pensacola, Destin, and finally Panama City where they had left their car.

Coming into Panama City we found the port was far more industrial than we imagined.

Once we were tied up at the Panama City Marina we found that there was a redfish tournament having a weigh-in.  The angler with the winning two fish limit got $3,000.

Since it was Saturday we all went to Mass at a nearby Catholic church.  Afterward, we went out to dinner and then stopped at the ever-present Walmart and reprovisioned.

The next day we went to Panama City Beach.  We found a restaurant on the beach that had beach access for their customers.  We spent the day lounging in the water and on our beach chairs and drinking margaritas.  We also had lunch at the restaurant.  The water was warm and beautiful and we had a great day!

I discovered that my straw was a "harmonica" straw - it played one note on the exhale and another on the inhale.  I couldn't figure out any two note tunes.

Due to storms in the area, we stayed another day in Panama City and finally took off for Carrabelle on Tuesday morning.   Dave and Terri decided to drive their car to Carrabelle to meet us and spend another night on the boat before heading home to North Carolina.  Below us Building Our Wings leaving the dock in Panama City.
